Skundavisk

Etymology

From Middle Skundavisk seldsam, alteration of earlier seldsien, from Old Skundavisk seldasiuni, from Halmisk ᛊᛖᛚᛞᚨᛊᛁᚢᚾᛁ (seldasiuni), ᛊᛖᛚᛞᚨᛊᛁᚢᚾᛁᛉ (seldasiuniŕ), from Proto-Germanic *seldasiuniz, from unattested *seldaz (rare) + *siuniz (sight). The second element was reanalyzed as -sam due to analogy with adjectives like eensam or langsam, because it was no longer recognizable by Middle Skundavisk speakers.
