From Old Aeranir śucros, from Proto-Iscaric *(d)ɮukros̠, from Proto-Maro-Ephenian root *d̥ɮewc- ("to shine, to be bright").

Cognate with Dalitian sukhrós, Stiric juśraḥ, Old Marian duça.
