Artifacts excavated from these sites triggered heated debate as to who the first settlers of Minhay were, and where and how they arrived. Artifacts such as pottery, tools, weapons, and jewelry bore little if any similarity to those found in Northeast Asia. The artifacts were clearly much more advanced and refined than the Paleosiberian cultures. Ornamentation from these objects featured motifs vastly different from Chinese artifacts dating from the same period.
