Template intended to force fonts that support the two Cuneiform Unicode blocks.

Usage

known fonts:

  • Akkadian[1], CuneiformComposite [2] (Classical Sumerian)
  • Free Idg Serif[3] (Old Assyrian)

optionally, two parameters can be used. In this case, the first parameter is a number from 1 to 7, specifying the historical stage preferred, per Image:SAG.png:

  1. archaic pictogram, around 3000 BC.
  2. rotated pictogram, around 2800 BC.
  3. abstracted glyphs in archaic monumental inscriptions, from ca. 2600 BC
  4. Classical Sumerian cuneiform as written in clay, from ca. 2600 BC
  5. Neo-Sumerian, late 3rd millennium
  6. Old Assyrian, early 2nd millennium, as adopted into Hittite.
  7. Neo-Assyrian, early 1st millennium

this is so far supported only for (5) and (6), for lack of fonts for the other stages.

use {{transl|Xsux|...}} for transliterations of cuneiform, and {{transl|sux|...}}, {{transl|akk|...}}, {{transl|hit|...}} to transliterate specific languages.
