Phonology

Modern Nurian has a typologically unusual distinction between dental and alveolar stops and between many types of fricatives:

t d = alveolar stops
th dh = alveolar spirants (slit fricatives)
þ đ = (unaspirated) dental stops
þh đh = dental spirants
s z = dental/alveolar sibilants
ṡ ż = postalvelar sibilants
