External history
Tocharian D is made as a superstratum in Zhetysu region, and I tried to use it in making some Uralic languages in this area. So I constructed it in easy way――from Proto-Germanic by using sound-changes like those which changed Indo-European into Tocharian B.
Grand Master Plan
The sound-change traces those which changed Indo-European into Tocharian B, as below;
- merger of voiced/voiceless consonants
- *p, *b > *p
- *k, *g > *k
- *t, *d > *t
- before the *t/*d marger, *t > *∅ in syllable onset before *r, *w, *y
- *s, *z > *s
- vowel change
- *i, *e > *yə
- *u > *wə/#, K
- *u > *ə/^{#, K}
- *o > *e
- *a > *a
- *ī > *yi
- *ē > ye/^_#
- *ē > a/_#
- *ū > u
- *ō > u/w_, _w
- *ō > a/^{w_, _w}
- *ā > a
- palatalization(*Cy > *C')
- *p~*py
- *f~*fy
- *t~*c
- *θ~*c
- *k~*š
- *h~*š
- *kw~*š
- *hw~*š
- *ts~*š
- *š(< *ky, *kwy, *tsy) will become ts in later change.
- *s~*ś
- *m~*my
- *n~*ñ
- *l~*ly
- *r~*ry
- *w~*wy
- (*y~*y)
- Auslautgesetze; Only the vowels or the liquids *r, *l stand at the end of the word.
- *-s, *-n, *-p, *-t, *-k > *-Ø
- *-nt, *-ns, *-nts > *-Ø
- Monophthongization across *w
- *ewә, *awә > *o
- *wy/*y marger to y
- depalatalization of labial conbsonants
- *py > pi
- *fy > fi
- *my > mi
- *š > ts
- elision of unstressed ə in open syllables
