From Classical Phrygian ɑɓpɑv (avraʿ), ɑpɓɑv (arvaʿ), from Proto-Semitic *ʔarbaʕ-. Cognate with Hebrew אַרְבָּעָה (ʾarbaʿá), Akkadian 𒐉 (erbet), Arabic أَرْبَعَة (ʾarbaʿa), among others.
