Batavian(baasje batavia; Batavian: [ˈbaː.ʃə ˌbata.fia]) is a Dutch-Indonesian creole language spoken in what is now Jakarta, Indonesia. Its name is derived from the Dutch colonial name for Jakarta, Batavia. The creole developed through Dutchification efforts by the Dutch colonial government after the Dutch nationalisation of the VOC in 1796.
