Etymology

From Old Silōs *ewsi(x)u, from an unknown source. Possibly cognate to a Para-Silōs lect "yoso" *[ˈjɵ̜ʊ̯.sɵ̜ʊ̯] ("mineral ore, natural resources"), in which case from a Pre-Silōs form *eɔsi(x)u. A connection to Carichendan sinti ("gold (color)") is tentative.
