From Old Tefrian rm (/ram/), from Proto-Tephricheic *sam-, from Proto-Asisic *sam-. Cognate with West Achissari ہں (hõ), East Achissari ہو (ho), Vancian em, Bulusic en, Nyongom ам (am), Dovasene ҫеҙ (ȿeɀ), and Khbirye (i), also further related to descendants of Proto-Indo-European *sḗm, such as Greek ένας (énas) and Armenian մեկ (mek), and may extremely disputedly be related to descendants of Proto-Northwest Caucasian *za, such as Abaza закӏы (zakʼə) and Ubykh за (za).
