Weddish

Etymology

From Old English dæġ, from Proto-Germanic dagaz. Seems not to come from OF dei.

Pronunciation

(Weddish) IPA: /dæd͡ʒ/

Noun

דֲּגֶה (dæ.jěh) - inanimate

  1. day - an exact 24-hour period, starting at midnight

Usage notes

A Christian דּגה contrasts with a Jewish יומה, which begins at sunset. While a יומה is always in the light, a דּג is the "day" and the "night", 24 hours. For a period of light, use דגטידה "daytime".
