From Proto-Kyrdan *tiŋqe (“heart”), from *tiŋ (“middle, core”). Possibly related to Late Proto-Klesuic *ktīnk “inside”. Cognate with Kērsalur theŋe, Cirdamur tiˀeŋ, Old Sērsal tiŋˀa.
