Welcome to Linguifex,
the free wiki for conlangs that anyone can edit!
Currently detailing 1,185 articles and languages: 39.5 % of our goal.
There are currently 14 stubs and 3 articles that need expanding.

  Featured language
Rangyayo (琅野語) is the native language of the Rangyan people and an official language of the East Asian island nation of Rangya. It is currently classified as a language isolate but could has proposed ties to the hypothetical Altaic language family. Rangyayo is notable for its mixed-logographic and featural orthography, agglutinative grammar and organic mixture of native and Sinitic vocabulary.

I yoyen wi kum zhyokainemuweiya.
This language was once featured.

Phimtsit ta khashinseng ta khayongseng tu suibeng khui, iko wi düksik tsoi ritsemotüya.
Thanks to its level of quality, plausibility and usage capabilities, it has been voted as featured.

Rangyayo is an a priori constructed language by the user Deslee on the Linguifex Wiki. It show clear influences from languages such as Korean and Chinese in both its grammar as well as its phonology. A language and author mastering intelligible article structure and availability.

  Selected article
Morphosyntactic alignment[*] describes the grammatical relationship between languages' three main sentence arguments, in intransitive[*] and monotransitive sentences.

Specifically, the core arguments of verbs, are the two arguments (in English, subject and object) of transitive verbs:

  • The dog chased the cat

And the single argument of intransitive verbs:

  • The cat ran away

English has a subject, which merges the more active argument of transitive verbs with the argument of intransitive verbs, leaving the object distinct; other languages may have different strategies, or, rarely, make no distinction at all.

For conlangers, it is important to know that few languages are of merely one morphosyntactic alignment; in most cases, the alignment varies depending on context.

  Administration
There are currently 4 administrators, also known as admins/sysops, on the Linguifex wiki, all of which are ready to help both newcomers and experienced members of the community! Sometimes they might even need the help of the community themselves! Please, don't hesitate to ask either one of them for help:
  Welcome to Linguifex!
This wiki is aimed at facilitating the development and creation of constructed languages. Constructed languages are made for a specific purposes, enjoyment and other reasons. They are often linked to constructed cultures and other kinds of inspired settings. Constructed languages have almost endless possibilities, so try making one!

Welcome to Linguifex!

  Create a language!
Do you want to create a language? It can take a lot of work to make it presentable but the results are often amazing! To make your own language you need to decide on:
  • The phonology - the sounds of the language.
  • The grammar - the framework of the language.
  • The vocabulary - the words and dictionary of the language. Enter a title in the box below to start creating your language.

For more information on linguistics see our guide and the linguistics section.

  Create a Word!
Linguifex houses not just your language, but a dictionary similar to Wiktionary, Contionary. Here you can create and share the vocabulary and details of your constructed language! Mind the capitalisation and get going!

For more information on the Contionary, see our words and introduction!

Not sure where to start?
Adding content
  • If you want to help but you're not sure where to start, try improving the various stub articles by expanding them.
  • Add a new, needed category.
  • Another helpful activity would be to check the list of wanted pages for frequently linked-to articles that don't exist yet.
  • Providing linguistic and phonetic information.
  • You can find a list of needed templates here.
