Nice to see you thinking about Afro-Asiatic! בָּרוּך הַבָּא! Unfortunately there exist less comparative data for Afro-Asiatic than for Indo-European. Comments from what little I know of Semitic/AA

  • If Egyption voiced stops were actually ejectives (as Biblical Hebrew transcriptions suggest) that would explain the apparent mix-up?
  • I have heard that Semitic was the branch that regularized its root system to mainly triliterals and some quadriliterals (Evidence: Semitic has families of semantically related triliteral roots sharing two consonants, and also hollow roots with a semivowel in the middle.) In general there seems to be little agreement on PAA beyond the basics of morphology.
