Permission to use Module:qhv-pron

Hi! I am a contributor for High Valyrian on wiki.languageinvention.com, and I was wondering if I could use Module:qhv-pron (and the associated template Template:Qhv-IPA and make some adaptations, on our wiki. It's really great work by you and it seems unnecessary to do the same work twice. I will give you credit of course. I would really appreciate it! You can also reach me on juelosw [at] gmail [dot] com --Juelos (talk) 20:10, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

@Juelos: Hi Juelos, permission granted! High Valyrian entries here on Linguifex are based on your work and Najahho's on the Language Invention wiki, so thanks. Please feel free to correct any mistakes that I have made here, and to create new pages that I missed, to have High Valyrian documented in both wikis. I will add proper credit in the category linked above. Cheers! sware • 🗣 • 🏲 10:24, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! Much appreciated.--Juelos (talk) 21:26, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
I found an error in Module:qhv-pron in that it assigns stress to the last syllable if the word ends in ks. If you move line 43 (term = gsub(term, "·$", "")) to line 38 , it is solved. (Also, it doesn't do well with adjacent vowels that don't form a diphtong (hiatus), but you can solve that by adding · between them. That one seems harder to solve by changing the code). --Juelos (talk) 07:44, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

Howdy and congratulations

Hey! It's my first time back here in a few months, and it was a pleasant surprise to see a page I'd read a few times before make it to the front page. So I just wanted to pop by and congratulate you on the achievement and say thanks for sharing such a cool language! Best, -User:Учхљёная (talk,conlangs,edits). 01:31, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

@Учхљёная: Hey, thanks! It was a great surprise for me too; I wasn't expecting getting featured. The language may not be mine, but I enjoyed putting the article together as if I were some kind of scholar. I'd be lying if I said I didn't read your work on Proto-Glaeglo-Hyudrontic or Danterske, for example.
Anyways, thanks to you for stopping by and reading the article, highly appreciated; or as they would put it, filu danci. Welcome back to Linguifex! Cheers, sware • 🗣 • 🏲 21:30, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

Tahano Hikamu font

Hi, Sware! I can absolutely add it. Can you please give me a quoted css declaration to include in common.css? Best regards, Admin.png Χρυσοφύλαξ 22:51, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
@Chrysophylax: Hi! Thanks for your answer. I'm not much versed in html or css, but I think this may be it:
@font-face{
   font-family: 'Tagati';
   src: url("https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/carbeck/tagatibookg@master/Tagati Book Regular G.ttf");
}

@font-face{
   font-family: 'Tagati';
   src: url("https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/carbeck/tagatibookg@master/Tagati Book Italic G.ttf");
   font-style: italic;
}

.Ayer{
	font-family: 'Tagati', sans-serif;
}
Feel free to replace the CDN links with local URLs. Thanks again! Cheers, sware • 🗣 • 🏲 07:59, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Creating templates for images with overlaid labels

For some time I've been creating templates on Linguifex by using or copying and adapting templates already made on Linguifex (often by you!). Where this fails, I've been checking out Wiktionary templates.

I've been trying to create a template that would let me have an image of a human head, with labels positioned at each feature like here.

Unfortunately, while I can add images and tables (and have done in lots of places on Linguifex), trying to overlay labels on the image is beyond me, and I'm having trouble finding/identifying the correct template to take from Wiktionary, especially as they seem to use multiple templates of their own. I've got this far for example.

Can you help?

Thanks, Tardigrade (talk) 14:25, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Tardigrade, thanks for stopping by. It turns out I did tinker with this template not long ago (past April, it seems). The template in question is Template:picdic, and this is the corresponding Wiktionary documentation for it. However, I don't remember if it actually worked or if I ever tested it. Let me know if it doesn't work; I'll be glad to help! Cheers, sware • 🗣 • 🏲 17:30, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
Hi @Sware, thanks for your help. This template works great so far, although I'm still trying to finetune the labels. If you take a look at Contionary:kupp#Niemish, you'll see that the link-labels don't appear as simply the names of the body parts. I've tried using Template:term and Wiktionary's advice to use altlink=, but neither of them generate what I really want. Can you help with this?
Cheers, Tardigrade (talk) 20:45, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
@Tardigrade, I've edited the Picdic templates slightly, and now it seems to work. I've also edited kupp to the correct syntax. ^^ sware • 🗣 • 🏲 22:14, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
PS Now the Avendonian (ovito) and Siwa (keppi) entries have it too; thanks! 22:49, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
Thanks! And congrats on the Avendonian and Siwa additions. Tardigrade (talk) 23:36, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Userboxes?

How did you make them? I've been trying for hours but all the templates are broken... --Jukethatbox (talk) 21:17, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @JukethatBox, I used {{UBX}} and a simple wrapping table; you can see them here. That way you can create your own as we aren't nearly as strict as the Wikimedia wikis. If you need help setting them up or with anything barely related to this wiki, drop me a message. Cheers, sware • 🗣 • 🏲 21:30, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
