Skundavisk

Etymology

From Middle Skundavisk gelōuen, from Old Skundavisk galōuan, galōban, from Halmisk ᚷᚨᛚᛟᚢᛒᛃᚨᚾ (galouban), ᚷᚨᛚᛟᚢᛒᛃᚨᚾ (galoubjan), from Proto-Germanic *galaubijaną. The j sound of Halmisk galoubjan fell before i-umlaut operated, hence the modern form instead of *geløven.
