The Union of Šarkunen Nations (abbreviated UŠN or USN alternatively), is a politico-economic union of 8 member states that are located primarily on the Šarkunen peninsula on the continent of Miraria.
History
The UŠN was established by five countries: Edievia, Laefevia, Nithalosia, Riyana, and Xynderland. The Šarkunen nations formed the union due to a shared cultural heritage from centuries-long proximity to one another. The original founding of the UŠN was to ensure lasting relations of peace between the member nations.
The UŠN has since expanded and it now also includes Lesidea and Haraku, two countries located in Šarkunen, and also Ohkoria, an island country located west of Šarkunen, the latter becoming the first non-Šarkunen nation to be accepted into the UŠN. In early June 2015, the FDR Kal was accepted into the union as the first protectorate state.
The Helsonian Union, partially located in Šarkunen, has also requested to join the UŠN but was rejected membership.
Politico-economic policies
UŠN member states all adhere to the following principles and regulations:
- Maintenance of peaceful relations between all UŠN member states
- Free trade between member states
- Uninhibited travel of UŠN member state citizens within all UŠN member states with national identification (no passport required)
- Right to a translator and/or interpreter between any of the official languages of UŠN member states
- Right to legal representation in any foreign UŠN member state should the need arise outside of a citizen's home nation
- Mutual protection and defence
- Conservation and noble treatment of land, water, resources, and species native to the Šarkunen region
- Promotion of peace and international unity of nations in the Šarkunen region, and the rest of the planet
