Grekelin

Pronunciation (IPA)

  • IPA: /ˈgnud͡ʑa/, [ˈgŋud͡ʑa]

Etymology

From Old Grekelin γνούσσα, where also Grekelin gnussa, both derived from Medieval Greek γνώση. The palatalization of -ss- to d͡ʑ is the result of constant borrowing between the three major dialects, possibly creating an intermediatery γνούτσα/gnuca where also Slavic Grekelin гњуча.
