Most people who take Shalian names either use a new Shalian given name and keep their original surname, or use a full name consisting of four Shalian given names. Shalian transcriptions of English names normally use the closest approximation to the Conservative RP pronunciation (e.g. káisi 'Casey'), but are sometimes somewhat etymologically informed (e.g. ʕídna 'Edna' retains the Hebrew ayin). This page describes native Shalian names which are sometimes used.
Structure
