Despite the name, it is spoken natively in both constituent countries. It is closely related to the English language spoken in the Kingdom of England. Although Scottish is a West Germanic language, it is in a sprachbund with the Western group of the North Germanic languages (comprising Icelandic, Faroese and Norwegian) and has evolved somewhat convergently with them.
