Etymology

From Old Grekelin δώθε, from Medieval Greek (ἐ)δῶθε(ν), with the first vowel dropped perhaps before Grekelin split (Alternatively it would be jedotten based on Grekelin's sound changes). Cognate with Modern Greek δώθε. Unrelated to Old Grekelin δώτε, which comes from Medieval Greek δώστε (Give).
