Etymology

Either from Italian prima or Latin prīma, both from Proto-Indo-European preh₂- and cognate with English prior and possibly doublet of prota. The initial voicing comes from the fusion with the final nasal in Old Grekelin's definite articles (Compare Greek γκρεμός).
