Ehomanian
Pronunciation
Etymology
From Old Ehomanian argėu, from either Latin aurum (“gold”) or argentum (“silver”).
Hëmfas (1990) proposes that it is the merger of Latin aurum and argentum (and that the borrowing of argentum (“silver”) as money is unlikely)
Bielviri (2009) proposes that it was loaned from Latin aurum through the fortition of *w to gw (aurum to *arwum to *argw to argë)
Noun
argë
- money, cash
- Argë më jorn urcidir.
- 'Money doesn't grow from trees.
- Argë më jorn urcidir.
