Etymology
From Proto-West Germanic *askōn. Influence by the evolution of Latin nascere to French naître. Cognate with English ask.

Conjugations
All retain their /k/ sound in their IMPF.SJV forms, represented by the grapheme sequence « qu ». But only « aître » does it with the PP form too.
