Etymology
From Old Grekelin ξε-, from Medieval Greek ξε- (kse-), alternative form of εκ- (ek-). Cognate with Modern Greek ξε-, Latin ex/ē, Old Irish ess-, a, ass (Irish as), Lithuanian ìš, Old Church Slavonic из (iz), Northern Kurdish ji, Albanian ith. Doublet of ecs.
