Etymology
From Old Oypatha 王 (tsááwà), from Proto-Cuyic *ksawos, borrowed from Proto-Indo-Iranian *xšáyati. Eclipsed Old Oypatha 王 ((h)wàŋ), borrowed from Middle Chinese 王 (hjwang), which still survives in ᠺᠶᠠᠤᠠ (gyauà).
