Carnian

Etymology

Inherited from Old Carnian mej, a contraction of Proto-Slavic *meďu or Proto-Slavic *meďi. Semantic shift from "between" to "half" was likely a calque of Latin medius. Compare Italian mezzo and Venetan mezo. Doublet of medio (between).
