Around graduation, Þwhgad began to study with composers. In fT 2255 he participated in the regional composition competition ''Farca Cøøve'' and won first prize.
In fT 2457 Þwhgad returned as a doctoral student in mathematics to the Olltal University, where he specialized in algebra. Under the supervision of Wisin Govala, Þwhgad was awarded a doctorate for his dissertation in fT 2463. He also published a couple of other math papers. After obtaining his doctorate, Þwhgad abandoned research mathematics.
