Etymology
From Classical Phrygian uɑsɑm (kadach), from Proto-Semitic *ḳadaš-. Cognate with Hebrew קִדֵּשׁ (kidesh), Old South Arabian 𐩤𐩵𐩪 (qds¹), Arabic قَدُسَ (qadusa), among others. Forms a doublet pair with ũɛs̃ɛm.
