Hi! My name is Adan. I speak English (fluent), Somali (near fluent), Arabic (decent), and a little Spanish, Portuguese, French, Amharic, and German (in that order).
Most of my conlangs are a posteriori. I like languages that are familiar but unique, which means I am mainly interested in Afro-Asiatic (especially Cushitic and Semitic) and Indo-European (especially Germanic and Romance). I'm also starting to get into other language families such as Bantu.
For me, conlanging is mostly a fun way to get more familiar with languages (both synchronically and diachronically) and improve my linguistic skills. I enjoy creating a functional system but get very bored with vocabulary (especially when it involves a lot of tedious research and guesswork, such as with Cushitic). As a result, I tend to leave my languages unfinished once I have a basic skeleton. Hopefully, writing about them online forces me to put a little more effort (the coding aspect is also fun).
