talti - Eastern dialects
Etymology
From Old Pomorian teltei. From Proto-Balto-Slavic *tel-, (or *stel-). Compare to Proto-Slavic *stьlati (earlier *stilātei - imperfective of *steltei), Old Prussian stallīt (“to stand”), both of which originated from Proto-Balto-Slavic *stíltei. The origin of an initial "s" is unknown. However Old Pomorian also had a word stiltei, which meant “to stand”, hence the word steljā (“ceiling”, Modern Pomorian - stelia), so these could have been different roots rather than two forms of the same root. Despite this fact, most scholars think that the word for ceiling was borrowed from Proto-Slavic and the verb “to stand” - from a West Baltic language.
