This article describes the colloquial language of Central Sjowaázh eñZóol, particularly that of the capital 'Onáp'aañ.

Phonology

The phonology of Low Sjowaázh spoken in 'Onáp'aañ is similar to High Sjowaázh, with a few differences.

  • /sC-/ clusters are not allowed word-initially; they become /C-/.
  • zh is a retroflex approximant.
  • There is more syncope.
  • Stress accent rather than pitch accent (as in Modern Greek).
