From Middle Skundavisk ard, from Old Skundavisk ard, from Halmisk ard, ardŕ, consonantal-stem variant of i-stem ardiŕ, from Proto-Germanic *ardiz. The i-stem form became obsolete in the early times of Old Skundavisk and thus left no descendant.
