Middle Annerish

Etymology

Clearly suppletive, but exact derivation is disputed; cf.: Goidelic bun, bunad. Per Bernthaler, from Germanic *ba-nw-, *bebō- ("to summon"); passive preterite from *buttaz, but see also Latin battuō.
