About the Republic of Corstekistan

As the name states, Corstekistan is a republic. But, what is a republic? It is a form of government where there is rule of law. Today, it also means that the citizens can participate in government, with the creation of laws. This means that they have freedom, like the right to speak and the right to choose one's religion.

One can also say that Corstekistan is a democracy. because of the citizens' participation in it. Democracy is strong in Corstekistan. The Corsteki people have gone through many crises while keeping their democracy. But, how does the government work? In the capital city, Flaxilthrand (Promisetown), the Lawthing meets to write and vote on the laws of the country. The leader of the Lawthing is the chairman, who has one of the 350 seats in the Lawthing. He or she is chosen after each election (every four years), and can be removed if the Lawthing does not agree with what they're doing.

Corstekistan is a large country. It stretches from the East to the West of North America. It would be difficult for the Lawthing in the east to be responsible for everything happening in the west. To solve this problem the country is divided into 70 regions. Flaxilthrand is its own region, called "Hedrégaka" (Head region). It is the only city to be its own region. The regions have some duties that they get from the laws created by the Lawthing. Now they include things such as public transportation and schools (but not the curriculum, which is created by the central government).

There are many people who live in Corstekistan, around 350 million. Most people, especially in the East, speak Knašta. The remaining people, around ten percent of the population, speak English or Spanish. The official languages of Corstekistan are Knašta, English, and in some regions Spanish and indigenous languages.

Most Corsteki people don't have a religion, but in the Southwest of the country there are many Catholics.
