===Long vowels===
The long vowels in Ruthenian usually are not written differently from their short counterparts, since nowadays long vowels are in the process of losing their length and are pronounced slightly more closed than short vowels, for example the short "e" is usually /ɛ/, while its long counterpart is pronounced /e:/ with their main distinction being vowel height rather than length. The long vowels are marked with an acute accent, called ''ryska skisná'' or just ''ryska'' in Ruthenian.
