This led to political violence from all sides of the political spectrum, with the most violent period being August 1947, where 300 people died in a terrorist attack on the 13th alone. In that month, about 500 people died and another 150 were injured.

One island in particular, the island of Ilu‘luki, a region with sizeable minorities of Northern and Southern speakers in addition to speakers of the local Polynesian language, [[Kilulu]]. There was a lot of tension between particularly Northern and Southern factions in the region, with both sides' nationalists attacking each other in bombings, street fighting, sabotage and vandalism. This region was so dangerous at the time that it became known as "the Kashmir of the Pacific Ocean."

Meanwhile, the new Japanese government had begun co-operating with the dormant Prosperity Party on a possible re-invasion of the archipelago. Eventually, they planned Operation Gold General, a co-ordinated Prosperity Party terrorist attack on the Parliament as well as a naval invasion from the Japan Self-Defence Force.
====Operation Gold General====
On July 13th 1949, a bomb detonated in the Shimajima Parliament, killing 25 MPs. The Prosperity Party had conveniently withdrawn all MPs a day before the attack, so they were unharmed. Five hours later, a naval invasion was detected on the most northern island, Baki‘kago/Sakanajima, which was so northern that there was still a significant minority of Japanese speakers. ====Intonation====
Shimajiman has no concrete stress pattern. This is mostly because Shimajiman in itself is an amalgamation of many Polynesian languages spoken in the archipelago that was then standardised. Many of these languages that were merged, such as Wen Ẅa or Kimyaki, had varying stress patterns, and though the pro-Japanese SJLB tried to prototonicise all Shima-Jima words, in actuality no native speaker follows the SJLB rules; not even the employees of the SJLB themselves.
