Tabiṛ [ˈtæbɪʀ] is a Dravidian language without nasals.

Phonology

Consonants: p t ts k q p t ts c q b d g b d g f s ɬ ʃ ʒ ɧ χ ff s ll sh zh sj ch v r l j ʀ f r l j ṛ Vowels: æ ɑ: aə æɪ ɛ eə eɪ eʊ ə əɨ ɪ i: ɨ̽ ɨ: ɔ o: oə ɔʊ ʊ u: a â aw ai e ey ei y yw yu i î w ŵ o ô oy ow u û A taste of Tabiṛ diachronics: Alveolar /t/ became an alveolar slit fricative /θ̠/, then a lateral fricative /ɬ/ in Tabiṛ. Retroflexes became uvulars: ɳ ṭ ɭ ɹ > ŋ q ʀ ʀ. Now gemination started to disappear. pp, tt, cc became f, ts, ɧ. Non-initial ṭ and ḳ became h and ʃ (à la HGCS). At the same time, where a vowel occurred before NC or a word-final N, it was nasalized then a vowel split occurred, doubling the number of vowels. The following shows the reflexes: Old Tamil stressed vowel > oral reflex / nasal reflex a > æ / ɑ: a: > eə / o: e > ɛ / ə e: > æɪ / eʊ i > ɪ / ɛ i: > i: / ɛɪ o > ə / ɔ o: > u: / ɔʊ u > ɨ̽ / ʊ u: > ɨ: / əɨ ai > ɛɪ / aə Some vowel reduction also occurred in unstressed syllables (think Portuguese). Then, all remaining nasals denasalized: m n ɲ ŋ > b d ʒ g
