ZE-1, also known as Izh, is a F-type main-sequence star with a mass of approximately 1.27M (1.269MimMJ) and a spectral type of F8V. This star is central to the main solar system in the Sel universe, in which is hosted the most complex life of this universe known to date. The designation of 1 is because of the star being the first star-scale object to be conceived of in this universe, of which all star-scale objects in Sel are designated as ZE-the number in order it was conceived.

The star is known to radiate high levels of magical radiation, as is expected of most stars within Sel's physics, forcing many magic-manipulating organisms on its planets, such as elves, to be nocturnal in order to not overload or render useless their abilities. As a result, this radiation is the cause of the observed discrepancy between the star's relatively high mass and relatively low spectral subtype if judging by our universe's physics.

Names

Glaeglo-Hyudrontic languages

In Proto-Glaeglo-Hyudrontic, it has been reconstructed that the name for the star would likely have been *üy, or alternatively *dǘN-üy, meaning "leader-sun" or "main sun". Due to the latter appearing in some descendant languages as the word for the star and the former meaning a large spherical celestial object, such as the other planets in the system or ZE-1b's moons (ZE-1b I & ZE-1b II), it has been theorized that the term refers to any large celestial object in general, but this model remains relatively unpopular among scientists.
