About Me

I'm a young woman currently living in the midwestern United States, in the process of immigrating to France. I am in and out of university studies, where I am studying English language to teach in France. I started researching languages around the age of 15 and later decided to pursue linguistic studies after a failed attempt to study university for medicine (4 years of my life wasted). I am also a practicing muslim. I primarily work with a posteriori languages, and design them to be used in various alternate history timelines that I create (or rather, I create the timelines to give my languages a place to exist). For me, conlanging is a hobby that I like to partake in it to help relieve stress.

The name Karous, despite the French pronunciation I prescribe for it, is actually derived from a japanese shoot-em-up game for the Sega Dreamcast I often would binge play. It means 'crow' in the Japanese accented English of the game. I like crows, a lot.

About My Languages

As was previously mentioned, I primarily work with a posteriori languages due to the intended goal of most of them being to fit into alternate history timelines.

Pannonian was my first major attempt at an a posteriori conlang that was not a reconstruction of some extinct language. It's a western slavic language. I may rework it some time.

Castellic is a Romance language derived from the Pannonian dialects of Latin before going extinct. It is in the same timeline as Pannonian and contributes a substratum to it.

Austman is my second conlang on this site, representing a language of a Muslim German minority originating in Ottoman rule over Austria. It is not in the same timeline as the majority of my languages, representing a rather new and underdeveloped scenario.
