This article is a construction site. This project is currently undergoing significant construction and/or revamp. By all means, take a look around, thank you. |
Aei /ˈat'.etʰ.iθ/ is the protolanguage of most languages on the southern and western islands of Ocean of Isles.
Phonology
- consonants (word-finally, unstressed): t (θ), p (ɸ), k (x) and (l)
- stressed syllables end in ejectives, otherwise mildly aspirated
- vowels (rounded): a /a/ (/ɶ/), o /ɑ/ (/ɒ/), e /e/ (/ø/), y /ɤ/ (/o/), i /i/ (/y/), u /ɯ/ (/u/)
- initial-only: æ̃, ẽ, (ɔ̃), (ũ)
Phonotactics
- Onsetless language which only uses nucleus and coda
- Vowel-harmony with roundedness --> only one rounded-mark: aei vs. :aei
Script
- vowel-abugida in which consonant codas are marked onto vowels:
- aei /ˈat'.etʰ.iθ/, áéí /ˈap'.epʰ.iɸ/, àèì /ˈak'.ekʰ.ix/, :àeí /ˈɶk'.øtʰ.yɸ/, â /ˈal/, ã /ˈæ̃θ/
- stress is marked only if it's not on the first syllable: ae /at'.eθ/ vs. ae' /atʰ.et'/
- diphthongs: .aie /aɪ̯t'.eθ/, .ei, .oy, .ae, .ui
- written from top to bottom in columns from left to right
