Tumhan is one of the least religious countries in Tricin (comparable to Japan). Some researchers have dismissed the idea of religiosity as a non-useful tool in explaining Netagin society. Spirituality and worship are highly eclectic and personalized, and religious affiliation is an alien notion. While the vast majority of Tumhanian citizens follow Netagin animism, only some 2% identify as such in surveys, because the term is understood to imply membership of Netagin animist sects. Some people identify as "without religion", yet this does not signify irreligion. The "irreligious" is a specified identity which is used mostly to affirm regular, "normal" religiosity while rejecting affiliation with distinct movements perceived as extreme. Today, the term translated as 'religion' (''ťebăř'') has negative connotations for many Netagin, as it is associated with exclusivist groups which aggressively proselytise, or are perceived to be strange or foreign.

Tumhan or the Republic of Tumhan (English: toom-HAHN; Naeng: fi Bintălisral Tumhan /vi bintəlisˈʀɒl tümˈhɒn/; Netagin: ne Vyračeb Tumhan Śinax pronunciation: /nɛ vɨʀaˈt͡sɛb tümˈhan/) is a country in Bjeheond. The name Tumhan is interpreted by folk etymology to mean 'the stirring/latent place' (tuMHaN) in Netagin, alluding to the volcanic geography of Tumhan. It's sometimes colloquially referred to as fi Tsărir Scuay Șir /vi t͡səˈʀiɐ̯ skuj ʃiɐ̯/ (the Great Gray East) in Windermere, alluding to its usually cloudy climate.

Anthem

The lyrics are in LLSLLLSLLL meter (like the Jewish piyyut Yigdal). The theme is self-reliance.

Literary Netagin (WIP)

Lėšea dypiekėšů my-xiem teďmaz — ďamzeš myri muršů dyťek bahan.
Xabbok lykuzėšů my-jiplėlur — saqůx hyčů kippel qi-ram my-ďhan.
Bar tansybik haviš qi-riv nozab — rahod ny viťėšů lăqal žihan.
Vajek ny bakkaneš vy laplėšů — ba kam myhen qanpův ny hėz Tumhan!

Translation (WIP)

Our ancestors stepped in the fertilizing rocks --- the soil which we have walked in out of our cradle of birth.

Our plows dug diligently, since we left the low and high places of the animist spirits.

For the fount of the mountains and the rains of the skies --- our smithy is the beginning of vigorous growth.

The world has left us raw material --- the people of Tumhan shall not leave it waiting!

Religion

Tumhan is one of the least religious countries in Tricin (comparable to Japan). Some researchers have dismissed the idea of religiosity or lack thereof as a non-useful tool in explaining Netagin society. Today, the term translated as 'religion' (ťebăr) has negative connotations for many Netagin, as it is associated with exclusivist groups which aggressively proselytise, or are perceived to be strange or foreign.
