Old Tsjoen was an older form of Tsjoen, spoken ca. -100~300 fT (around the time of Old Wiobian).

- In Modern Tsjoen, /β ð ɣ/ merged with /b d g/ word-initially and was lost in other environments. /dz/ merged with /z/ and /zj/ merged with /ɻ/.
- /ŋ/ and clusters with /ŋ/ were allowed word-initially, unlike in Modern Tsjoen.

Morphology
Old Tsjoen morphology was more complex than modern Tsjoen. Modern Tsjoen is analytic as a result of influence from the Hlou-Shum languages and more recently Rhythoed.
