Phonology
Modern Nurian has a typologically unusual distinction between dental and alveolar stops and between many types of fricatives:
- t d = alveolar stops
- th = alveolar spirants (slit fricatives, often pronounced as Welsh ll)
- ŧ đ = dental stops
- ŧh = dental spirants
- s z = dental/alveolar sibilants
- ṡ ż = postalvelar sibilants
Vowels: <a e i/y o u æ ie ea eo> /A e i o u æ y ea ø/ all with short and long counterparts
