Grekelin

Pronunciation (IPA)

  • IPA: /leoti/, [ɫɛˈɔtʲi]

Etymology

From Old Grekelin λεώθης (Leothes), of unknown origin. May be derived from Proto-Indo-European *leykw- (To leave), but no descendants have a similar meaning and there are many irregular sound changes.

Alternatively a borrowing of Persian "لوتی" (Rude, impolite), but the modern meaning seems to be hard to derive from and that borrowing hasn't occured in any other Greek dialects.

Noun

  1. Human, homo sapiens
Padi leleottek leleszterek enta   (All humans are equal)
