Grekelin
Pronunciation (IPA)
- IPA: /leoti/, [ɫɛˈɔtʲi]
Etymology
From Old Grekelin λεώθης (Leothes), of unknown origin. May be derived from Proto-Indo-European *leykw- (To leave), but no descendants have a similar meaning and there are many irregular sound changes.
Alternatively a borrowing of Persian "لوتی" (Rude, impolite), but the modern meaning seems to be hard to derive from and that borrowing hasn't occured in any other Greek dialects.
Noun
- Human, homo sapiens
- Padi leleottek leleszterek enta (All humans are equal)
