Etymology

From Proto-Kydan *ŋʷiri (“person, human being”), possibly from *ŋʷā (“mortal”). Perhaps related to Proto-Klesuic *b-ŋej-es “mortal being”. Cognate with Kērsalur miri, Cirdamur ŋiri, Old Sērsal ŋiri.
