Classical Meskangela

Etymology

Origin unclear, Old Meskangela hwi-rai (“lake”) cannot be the predecessor of eju. May be related to jūn “wet”, ëjoŋan “to wash away, to strand” (possibly through Early Meskangela **ha-Vj- “to leak”).

Pronunciation

IPA: [ˈe.ju]
