Phonology:

  • consonants (word-finally, unstressed): t (θ), p (ɸ), k (x) and (l)
    • stressed syllables end in ejectives, otherwise mildly aspirated
  • vowels (rounded): a (ɶ), ɑ (ɒ), e (ø), ɤ (o), i (y), ɯ (u)
    • initial-only: æ̃, ẽ, (ɔ̃), (ũ)

Phonotactics:

  • Onsetless language which only uses nucleus and coda
  • Vowel-harmony with roundedness --> only one rounded-mark: aei vs. :aei

Script:

  • vowel-abugida in which consonant codas are marked onto vowels:
    • aei /ˈat'etʰiθ/, áéí /ˈap'epʰiɸ/, àèì /ˈak'ekʰix/, :àeí /ˈɶk'øtʰyɸ/, â /ˈal/, ã /ˈæ̃θ/
  • stress is marked only if it's not on the first syllable: ae /at'eθ/ vs. a'e /atʰet'/
  • diphthongs: .aie /aɪ̯t'eθ/
