Valtamic

Etymology

From Proto-Valtamic *måŋåź, *måŋåś, borrowed from Middle Mongol ᠮᠣᠩᠬᠣᠯ (mongqol, whence Modern Mongolian монгол) and later generalized to Muscovians. A similar development can be seen with ġulünjul, ultimately from a form of Old Norse væringi ("Varangian"). Doublet of mongol(hor).
